Days in prison for insulting prophet Mohammad?

Question

Days in prison for insulting prophet Mohammad?
You guys already know everything about the Brit sent to prison for giving a teddy bear the name of prophet Mohammad. The papers say it is outrageous an old woman will be sent to prison for such an innocent mistake. I am pretty sure she did not mean to insult Islam or something, but is it not a little bit rude to go abroad pretending British standards will prevail whatever the country you might be in? I feel really sorry for this woman, but I think she should have gathered some information on Sudan and what Islam is like before venturing herself into it. The Sudanese have been somewhat lenient on her ever since the usual punishment for this sort of things is either slashes or a year in prison. What do you guys make of it?

Answer

I understand your point completely. Your initial reaction is to be shocked when hearing upon the punishment but then again, if it were one of their own people, we wouldnt hear about it or even be shocked.brbrIts hard to say what to do. Obviously she didnt intentionally wish to insult Islam but when in another country, especially one that is very renowned for being traditionalist, very religious, you would think you would try to find out more about the taboos.brbrIts still shocking though. I dont like thinking about it.
